The NFL loves the idea of the St. Louis Rams — just not in L.A. or Carson, California.
According to a USA Today report, the league has offered to kick in $100 million more for construction of a new stadium that would keep the Rams in St. Louis.
The new proposal means the league could commit up to $300 million to the proposed billion-dollar stadium project. The revised deal comes as aldermen met Tuesday to consider a riverfront football stadium project.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that a preliminary vote to move forward with the plan could occur later Tuesday with a final vote expected on Friday.
Rams owner Stan Kroenke has made inroads toward moving to the Los Angeles area. The San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders have teamed up on another stadium project that in L.A. region that hasn’t had an NFL team for two decades.
NFL owners will meet on Jan. 12-13 in Houston to consider the proposals.
