The Chicago Cubs have agreed with free-agent pitcher John Lackey on a two-year deal to the value of $32 million. The Cubs give up their first-round pick with this signing because of a previous deal with the Cardinals.
Lackey is 37 years old and you might see this as overpaying for a old pitcher but he had a 2.77 ERA last season for the St. Louis Cardinals in 33 starts. And he’s coming off one of his best years. The Chicago Cubs aren’t the laughing stock of the MLB anymore. You Cub fans can finally come out of hiding.
