Sage has been a martial arts prodigy since junior high school, much like LeBron James, and like James he has to go through all of his growing pains in the public eye.
When he lost by submission in his last fight many people treated it as though the world was crumbling around the then 19-year-old fighter but they failed to realize that these early experiences is what’ll build Northcutt into a champion.
Sage lost that fight at welterweight (170lbs) and his UFC bout vs Marin will be a return to the lightweight division. It’s a place where Sage can sharpen his skills and grow into a contender.
We saw how hard the leap in weight was for the more experienced Conor McGregor, so it is no surprise that Sage struggled. The comeback has the opportunity to make him an even bigger star.
