Conor McGregor is a man with goals and his goal for 2016 is holding UFC belts at 145lbs, 155lbs and 170lbs.
In case you’re wondering, no one has ever held two UFC titles at the same time. Conor had a plan to capture the lightweight title at UFC 196 and then challenge Robbie Lawler for the welterweight title at UFC 200.
“I like Robbie, I won’t say a bad word about Robbie. He fights with his heart. He’s been around the game so, so long. But if we fought, I would beat Robbie. I’m too fast for him. The size difference is not anything. I’ve stood beside him. I’ve seen him.”
An injury to Rafael dos Anjos led to McGregor facing Nate Diaz on 10 days notice but his plans to hold ‘all of the belts’ still remains in tact. In fact, Robbie Lawler still looks like the plan for UFC 200.
“I respect Lawler as a champion, as a man who drifted off, came back, stayed on it and rose up and became the welterweight champion. We’ll see how that goes. That is an appealing one for me, the welterweight. All the belts. We’ll see.”
McGregor will have to defeat Nate Diaz at UFC 196 for any of this to come to fruition.
