Is it football season yet? With only 69 days left until the first game of the season, Redskins CB Josh Norman will probably keep us more than entertained.
One thing Norman knows how to do and that’s rebuttal everything that comes his way. No matter if you’re saying your horse is prettier than his, I’m sure there is a Batman quote somewhere logged away to refute that claim. Sadly, we aren’t talking about his horse, but his second favorite topic yet, being the best shutdown corner in the league. No one can take away what Norman did for the Panthers last year, four interceptions, two returned TDs, forced fumbles, 56 tackles, and other countless accolades but the best thing he did? Trash talk before every game. Not only did it add fuel to the fire (Cameron dancing after every TD) but it also gave Panthers a slight nasty edge.
This time, Norman is coming after retired NFL RB LaDainian Tomlinson who said that there wasn’t a true shutdown corner in the league and as we all know, Norman wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to pitch his case.
“If you say there are no shutdown corners, well there’s no game-changing running backs today,” Norman told NFL Network after being ranked No. 11 in its top 100 players list for 2016. “I was just with a guy named A.P., so I know he’s a game-changing running back, you ain’t got to tell me, man.”
Fox Sports also points out, just Wednesday, Tomlinson gave Norman high praises saying he was the best corner… of course he didn’t add-on “shut down”.
“For me as a player, I think, you put the best 11 on the field, Norman said, “in those best 11, you’re going to have guys rise, you’ll have some or them stay the same or they, like, fall off. For me, I felt like I rose within that defense.”
