Steph Curry commented today about the addition of his new teammate Kevin Durant. According to CSN Bay Area, Curry believes the Warriors and Durant won’t have to do much of anything to accommodate one another. In recounting what was said during the meeting in the Hamptons, Curry said:
We told him how things would be, how we operated and how he would fit in. He would fit right in. He’s a team guy. That’s who he really is. We told him he wouldn’t have to change anything and we wouldn’t have to change anything for him. He just fits right in.
That is the company line the Dubs are toeing at the moment. Head coach Steve Kerr said the same thing at Durant’s introductory press conference on Thursday. Maybe it’s true, we’ve seen reports that Durant is easily influenced and the current narrative is that he is more of a follower than a leader. But, we’ve seen this movie before. See the 2011 Miami Heat.
There will be a period of adjustment and some semblance of change on the part of both KD and the Dubs. Anytime you move a player of KD’s caliber to a team like the Dubs, that play a completely different style, change is coming. Plus, the Dubs are essentially replacing Harrison Barnes with the second best player in the world. Yeah, something is definitely going to change…
