LeBron James is in the midst of trying to right the ship for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they look to begin their journey toward the finals (maybe) in a couple weeks, but that doesn’t mean he’s not doing his typical deep thinking & posting via his social media.
This time, LeBron takes to IG to explain why the world needs less kids trying to follow his path, and more in the leading modern industries:
LeBron is absolutely right, more kids need to have much better starts aimed in these essential areas.
Much of American society today revolve arounds sports in one way or another & with that comes the exploding salaries athletes and coaches are getting. It stands to reason why so many young people want to be LeBron; he’s amongst the best on the planet at doing something & receives all the trappings that go along with it.
If we, as a society REALLY wanted more teachers, accountants, scientists, & doctors, then our nation would be pouring resources into those industries with the same excitement they have when they spend money on war, new skyscrapers, & locking people up. It goes way past kids wanting to be the “next LeBron”, they want to be the next one in line to have the world bestowed at their feet…which is traditionally what is reserved for the best athletes of our most beloved sports.
LeBron does a great deal all over impoverished areas of this country to see to it that many kids are given access to being everything he just listed, and in many cases; they’ll still view themselves as his subordinate, not because they are any less great, but because there’s really no pedestal for that stuff.
Again I say, if more resources were being poured into ENSURING many more kids were given opportunities to compete at the highest levels of these everyday areas, the same way opportunity was earned & given to LeBron James when he excelled at an early age in basketball, more people might be looking up to more doctors, scientists, etc, that look like them.
Just a thought.
