The Banana Boys are up to something.
Before we study the facts, let’s not forget what LeBron said about teaming up with his buddies back in 2016.
“I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together. … At least one, maybe one or two seasons — me, Melo, D-Wade, CP — we can get a year in,” James told Bleacher Report in February for a feature story on James’ and Anthony’s relationship that was published Wednesday. “I would actually take a pay cut to do that.”
“I mean, we’ve had plenty of conversations,” James said. “We’ve been together for almost 15 years, so we’ve had plenty of conversations.”
It seemed more like a dream, something that possibly could happen in NBA2K but surely not in the NBA right?
Well………
Some strategic moves have been made by all four of them that might make this a reality, let’s go over all four of their situations.
Carmelo is owed $52.4 million on his Knicks contract. He can opt out at end of the season or bought out now which would allow him to take a one year deal pretty much anywhere and hit free agency in 2018.
Wade opted in for the final year of his Bulls deal, which will pay him $23 million. He will be free agent in 2018.
LeBron will opt of his deal with Cavs after the season and become a free agent in 2018.
CP3 opted in to his deal to facilitate a trade to Rockets. Will become a free agent in 2018.
This is still unlikely to happen, but the options will be there in 2018 if they wanted to try.
