John Wall has never been shy about proclaiming his greatness.
Last season, his game reached new heights with career highs in points, assists and shooting percentage. Dynamic and lethal, the two words which jump to mind to describe Wall’s open court prowess. These skills fit lovely with his vision as a passer and improved shot off the dribble. But is he the best two-way guard in the league?
On the offensive end, Wall can be limited at times with an improved but inconsistent jump shot. You don’t want him taking three pointers. For his career this has been proven, including last season with a mark of 33% behind the arc. In last years playoffs, his shooting became an issue in the Wizards second round series versus Boston. Wall’s stellar series was short circuited with an 8-23 performance in Game 7.
Being your team’s leading scorer, and getting an offense into sets, understandably diminishes defensive performance. That said, Wall leaves something to be desired with his effort level and ability on the other end of the floor.
All that said Wall is an ascending and a franchise player. At the moment, i’m not ready to give him the crown for best two-way point over guys like Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.
LeBron James was on hand for an offseason workout with Wall. Flip the page to checkout the video of his two-way remarks, as well as his top 5 players in the NBA.
