It’s no secret, but somewhat surprising, that the Cavaliers have struggled in the young NBA season, sitting at 3-4.
In addition to the Kyrie Irving trade, the Cavs have dealt with some injuries as Iman Shumpert and Derrick Rose have both missed playing time. Add in the fact that Isaiah Thomas is still nursing a hip injury from last season and has yet to take the court for the Cavs, and the reigning Eastern Conference champs haven’t had much luck in the health department.
At shoot around on Wednesday, LeBron James opened up about what he calls the worst training camp of his career.
Transcript via Dave McMenamin, ESPN:
James offered further insight into the ankle injury he suffered in camp. It appears that the injury was more serious than previously indicated.
It doesn’t help that the NBA season started early after the Cavs deep playoff run to the Finals last season. There hasn’t been much time for rest – an issue that is currently being discussed by commissioner Adam Silver.
Silver has strongly hinted that the 82-game regular season may be shortened.
