A Chicago-area police sergeant is being held without bond for allegedly shooting his son after discovering he drank his vodka.
CBS Chicago reports that Raymond Leuser, a sergeant with the Indian Head Park Police Department, shot his son multiple times after discovering three cups of missing vodka had been replaced with water.
Leuser called in sick on Monday, stopped by a convenience store and bought vodka, pizza and popcorn. Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the son drank three cups of the vodka and replaced it with water.
At some point, Leuser discovered the switch. When his son walked into the kitchen, the elder Leuser shot him in the stomach, thigh and shoulders .
Leuser’s defense team is arguing the shooting was in self-defense though no signs of a struggle were found in the house.
