After an illustrious career spanning over three decades, Roy Jones Jr. says he’s finally ready to end his active fighter status and move on to the next phase of his life and career.
BoxingScene.com reports Jones will fight his final professional bout on February 8 in his hometown of Pensacola, Florida. The fight will the headlining bout of an evening of both MMA and boxing fights at the Pensacola Bay Center.
“My last day at the Bay. It’s my last one for the bayfront … Civic Center, Pensacola, Bayfront Arena, whatever you want to call it. So if you want to come to see my last day in Pensacola, be there February 8. That’s my last one there,” said Jones.
The former pound-for-pound kingpin ends an active career that includes golden gloves wins, junior and Olympic medals, and championship titles in four different weight classes. Jones currently acts as a lead analyst for HBO Boxing.
