Drew Brees and the Saints were eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday vs the Vikings in the most brutal way after a Stefon Diggs 61-yard touchdown as time expired and all focused immediately shifted to Brees’ future. In 2016, Brees signed a five-year extension with included the ability to be voided in 2018.
Brees has now shot down any speculation about him leaving New Orleans. He says that he has the same feelings about the Saints as he did when he first arrived in New Orleans in 2006. He’s open to continue playing with the Saints as long as both sides continue to have mutual agreements, according to ESPN.com’s Mike Triplett.
“I’m not in the mood to make anything secretive. It’s the same way I felt two days ago. It’s the same way I felt 12 years ago. That is that I’ll be here as long as they’ll have me, hopefully.”
Brees also noted that due to the Saints’ season ending just two days ago, the thought about free agency hasn’t come across his mind but will address it when the time comes.
