The Cleveland Cavaliers pulled off a shocking one day rebuild of their roster at the trade deadline, and looking back it all started when Kyrie asked to be traded last summer. Isaiah Thomas wore out his welcome quickly in Cleveland and they sent him packing to the Lakers without hesitation.
Cleveland could have received Paul George for Kyrie but eventually ended up with essentially Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. as compensation. Cleveland did a good job of remaking their roster into a more competitive team given the circumstances, but it has to sting a little that they never fully capitalized on Kyrie’s value.
