EA Sports announced that Antonio Brown will be on the cover of Madden 19′ and Pittsburgh Steelers fans are having a bittersweet moment. Sweet because Brown is on the cover and the last Steeler on the cover was Troy Polamalu eight Maddens ago. Bitter because the fear of the “Madden curse”.
Lets break down what the “Madden curse” is. It’s believed that any player that is on the cover of the game will either get hurt, fall off or the team will have a bad season after. Sometimes it can be two or all three of those. Polamalu and several NFL players are proof of this.
Not all of the players that appeared on the Madden cover were cursed though. Tom Brady hasn’t really lost his touch and took the NFL MVP last season as he appeared on Madden 18′. He did lose the Super Bowl but it’s not his first Super Bowl loss.
There’s several players that lucked out like Brady and several that couldn’t escape. Brown already has injuries and Steelers are going through it with LeVeon Bell. I believe Brown will still remain the one of the top three receivers in the game despite being on the cover.
Check out the list of notable players that survived the curse and the others who unfortunately didn’t.
