Dana White says after Saturday night’s performance TJ Dillashaw should be in the discussion for best bantamweight fighter of all time. But what’s next for him?
In the lead up to UFC 227, attention shifted from the match-ups as they were intended to a future fight between Demetrious Johnson an Cody Garbrandt. What resulted were loses by both Johnson and Garbrandt, dan overjoyed defending champion (Dillashaw) and a new champion (Cejudo).
With the unexpected happening (Cejudo defeating Johnson), and the battle ongoing battle with Garbrandt finally over, what should Dillashaw do moving forward and does it include a plan for Cejudo moving up to 135lbs to challenge?
BSO was on hand when Dillashaw shared his plans for the immediate future and they do not include Cejudo, despite his triumphant win Saturday night. While applauding his performance and skills, Dillashaw explains why Cejudo does not deserve a fight with him yet.
I don’t really think the guy deserves it. He still got Joseph Benavidez. Benavidez just beat him. He lost a split decision to Perez but I didn’t agree with that loss. He needs a possible trilogy with Mighty Mouse. I don’t know but I open for whatever. I’m not stepping away from a challenge thats for sure.
We’ll see what the team brings me, shoot bring on Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar may be well outside of his weight class but Dillashaw has options other than Cejudo which include Dominic Cruz and Mighty Mouse. In the meantime, Dillashaw says he will be relaxing on his boat and enjoying a staycation.
