Al B. Sure! seemed to hint that his coma from a few years ago was somehow related to Diddy — and he’s also talking up about his relationship with his son Quincy.
The R&B singer made an appearance Friday at the Equal Justice Now Awards in Los Angeles, where he was pushing his equal access to healthcare campaign alongside Ben Crump, and even addressed the crowd at one point… with a subtle allusion to the Diddy situation going on.
Brown met Combs, 54, as a child when the founder of Bad Boy Records began dating Porter, who died of pneumonia in 2018 at the age of 47. Growing up in New York and Georgia, Brown spent time with both sides of his family, but when he and his brothers joined Combs on tour, he started spending more time with him.
Last year, Brown told PEOPLE about what he’s learnt from Combs: “I think I’ve been a sponge, and now I do so much,” said the rapper. “One of my passions, I’m very much into the art of acting, and then there’s music. But just seeing how my pops is able to handle and juggle all these things, I took that from him as my most major takeaway.”
On Tuesday, Combs’ attorney compared the home raids to a “witch hunt” and maintained his client’s innocence, despite facing many allegations of sexual assault across multiple lawsuits.

He also argues that Diddy’s children should not be treated as collateral damage in this situation. In terms of Diddy himself, ABS tells us he does not want to comment on another man’s achievements. Al also says he’s grateful Quincy wasn’t at Diddy’s Los Angeles house during the raids earlier this week, despite the fact that Diddy’s other children, Justin and King, were jailed.
Finally, Al emphasizes that Quincy is an adult who will make his own judgments. He appears to be keeping the door open, hoping that QC may choose to leave Diddy’s side.
