The Dallas Cowboys signed cornerback Brandon Carr in 2012 to a 5-year, $50 million dollar contract. The deal came with $26 million dollars guaranteed and a $10 million dollar signing bonus. With numbers like that, you would expect Carr to lock down corner, defensive leader and pro-bowler year after year. Well that hasn’t happened and Dallas wants some of their money back.
Carr, who turns 29 in May, has only recorded only 6 interceptions in his 3 years in Dallas and continues to be one of the weaker links of their defense. Dallas would like to keep the veteran Carr, just at a reduced rate seeing that there are so many uncertainties with cornerback Morris Claiborne and his health going forward.
Carr’s salary is set at $8 million this season and it will count $12.7 million against the salary cap.
