The Cavaliers are finally moving on from J.R. Smith.
According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic reports “Barring a last-minute trade, the Cavs are expected to waive JR Smith today, a league source said.”
Since the Cavs can’t find any trade partners for J.R. Smith they are expected to stretch his $4.3 million guaranteed over the next three years. This move will keep the Cavaliers under the luxury tax threshold.
You can expect plenty of teams trying to acquire Smith since he can be a valuable shooter coming off the bench.
