According to BadLeftHook.com HBO and Top Rank Promotions are trying to best Showtime and Golden Boy Promotions in terms of summer blockbuster fights. The recently discussed Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin is being discussed as a Pay-Per-View event.
Bob Arum is still working on a deal to match his fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, with WBA middleweight champ Gennady Golovkin in a super middleweight pay-per-view main event at The Forum in Inglewood, California. – BadLeftHook.com
That’d give HBO 3 late-spring/summer PPV cards (Cotto vs Martinez & Pacquiao vs Bradley being the others) while Showtime would only march out Mayweather vs Maidana and Canelo vs TBD.
Sure HBO’s PPVs seem like a recycling of old stars but the addition of GGG vs Chavez Jr. gives their roster a new flare and an interesting storyline.
