Ghana wants to make sure its citizens can watch the World Cup match against the United States. So to make that happen, they purchased 50 megawatts of electricity from the Ivory Coast, according to Bloomberg.
Also, according to SI, the Ghanaian government has asked the nation’s largest aluminum smelter to reduce electricity during Ghana’s World Cup matches.
Ghana has been dealing with shortages of natural gas and water levels at hydroelectric plants. Not only will they have to ration through the World Cup game but probably the first part of 2015 too, according to SI.
