Golden Tate isn’t slick, I see what he’s doing.
Tate wasn’t exactly the biggest prize in free agency, but he would provide a team with depth and toughness at the wide receiver position. Tate got a nice offer from the Lions and never left their building.
During a question and answer with the Lions official team website, Tate admitted that the Lions offense fit his skill set better than his previous offense in Seattle.
“I think this offense is going to fit better for me as a player than Seattle’s did,” Tate told the team’s official website.
Tate compared his new role in Detroit to the one Lance Moore played for Drew Brees and the Saints.
“I watched some tape on the Saints over the last few years and just looking at that — I haven’t talked to coach Lombardi that much — I see myself being a Lance Moore type of player, but just more explosive and able to do a few more things,” Tate said.
We all know it’s a better fit because Matthew Stafford attempted almost 700 passes last season. Throw in the comfort of playing alongside the best wide receiver in the game, and you can see why Tate is so in love with Detroit.
