All-Star fan voting has gotten serious for John Wall, who has expressed his displeasure with Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving having more votes but has played just 7 games.
During a time out during the second quarter, an incident occurred that left a sour taste in Cavaliers mouth.
According to Cleveland.com via the Washington Post, there was a spoof made where Cavaliers fans were asked who should be an all-star starter between Irving and Wall, and of course they all answered Wall.
The end result, was Irving dropping 19 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter to help the Cavaliers defeat the Wizards 121-115.
J.R. Smith who pitched in 25 points and going 5-10 from distance, wasn’t entertained with the video segment.
“We didn’t like it as a team,” Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith said. “We didn’t like it at all.”
LeBron James also backed his teammate Irving on his all-star candidacy.
“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how many games Kyrie plays,” Cavaliers forward LeBron James said. “He’s an all-star player. That’s out of the question. He’s, if not the best, one of the two best point guards in our league, along with Steph. So that’s not even a question, and he just continues to show why he’s that. I think, and I’m going to continue to harp on it, he’s much more than just an all-star player. He’s much better than that. He’s 23 years old. He hasn’t even scratched the surface yet.”
Kyrie’s play was nothing short of spectacular, and put to rest if he’s all-star worthy.
Fast forward to 2:02 mark to see Irving’s wizardry and domination of the fourth quarter.
