Superstars are made in the NBA Playoff and Trae Young solidified himself this past season getting to the Eastern Conference.
“Atlanta Hawks All-Star point guard Trae Young has agreed to a five-year designated rookie maximum extension worth up to $207 million, his agent, Omar Wilkes of Klutch Sports, told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday. The deal includes a 30% escalator clause that would turn the guaranteed $172 million base into $207 million should Young be voted onto one of the three All-NBA teams. The deal also includes an early termination option after the fourth season, sources said. The contract will kick in during the 2022-23 season and run through the 2026-27 campaign,” per ESPN.
Young is more than deserving and he’s the Hawks franchise player for the near future.
However, free agency kicked off Monday and the Hawks have yet to make key moves to keep their title contention hopes alive.
