You had to know that sooner or later there would be a quarterback controversy in Tennessee. Veteran QB Matt Hasselbeck has brought stability to a Titans team that was unstable on many levels last year but his inability to stay healthy coupled with the impressive play of rookie QB Jake Locker has created a “good problem” in Tennessee.
Matt Hasselbeck sat out of practice today with a left calf injury and head coach Mike Munchak insists that he is the starter if healthy.
Titans coach Mike Munchak says he is assuming Matt Hasselbeck is playing Sunday at Indianapolis until he sees otherwise. That’s even though his veteran quarterback only watched practice Wednesday.
However, Munchak is the one who convinced Hasselbeck to come to Nashville to play quarterback and because he has the utmost respect for the veteran QB he’s determined to let him start for the whole season. But with Locker playing well and Hasselbeck banged up the Titans still find themselves in an interesting situation. With three games left against Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Houston, the Titans sit just one game behind the Jets for the last Wild Card spot and hold the tiebreaker over New York.
So if Jake Locker continues to play well against the winless Colts will the Titans go back to the veteran quarterback in Hasselbeck or should they stick with the young rookie with a potential playoff berth in sight.
Who would you start?
