Former New England Patriot Joe Andruzzi has fought his on battle with Cancer and is now running his own foundation, the Joe Andruzzi Foundation.
Monday they held the Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s New England Celebrities Tackles Cancer Gala, and the top prize was an opportunity to play Xbox with Patriots start tight end Rob Gronkowski according to the Boston Globe.
The sum total raised for the Gronk gaming experience, $36,000.
The experience was supposed to be one 4 hour gaming session with Gronkowski, but after bids escalated quickly, it was broken down into 3 possible winners getting an opportunity to have an in home visit.
Andruzzi raised $500,000 total during the evening and was pleased with the outcome.
“We hoped to make this year’s gala our best ever,” the foundation’s president and founder said of its fifth annual event, “and we definitely succeeded.”
