Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith proves that there’s a price for everything. Smith has auctioned off his 13 consecutive Gold Glove awards for a whopping total of $519,203.
Those cash for gold commercials must have really made an impact on the Wizard of Oz. He also sold the two World Series rings that the Cardinals had gifted him during their 2006 and 2011 championship run. Those rings sold for $42,000 and $51,000 respectively during the auction.
Smith may not be the luckiest person during all of these auctions. The auctioneer that helped Smith sell his memorabilia collected a %20 commission on all of the sales.
