For over 35 years, the McDonald’s All-American Games have provided hoops fans with an opportunity to see basketball’s stars of tomorrow shine in high school basketball’s version of the NBA All-Star game. Yesterday, McDonald’s presented a list of more 800 high school seniors from 39 states and the District of Columbia who have been nominated to play in this year’s game on April 3rd at the United Center in Chicago.
The nominees were selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All-American Game selection committee. You can see the complete list of boys and girls nominees here. Hoops junkies will certainly recognize names like Andrew Wiggins (Huntington Prep, West Va.), Jabari Parker (Simeon HS, Illinois), and twin brothers Andrew and Aaron Harrison (Travis HS, Texas) on the boys list. Mercedes Russell (Springfield HS, Oregon) and Kaela Davis (Buford HS, Georgia) headline the girls list. The final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls will be announced on February 14 on the McDonald’s All-American Game Selection Show on ESPNU.
“This list of McDonald’s All American Games Nominees represents the finest prep talent in the country, and we are privileged to acknowledge them for their career success on the court, in the classroom and in the community,” said Morgan Wootten, McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee Chairman. “Today we celebrate these young players, and we look forward to selecting the final team next month.”
The girls game will be broadcast by ESPNU April 3rd at 7:00 p.m. (ET) and the boys game will follow at 9:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPN. Stay with BSO for updates.
