Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers may not have shot himself, but he still may be looking at some prison time, if you go by the guidelines used for Plaxico Burress.
As we reported yesterday, Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers was arrested in La Guardia Airport yesterday after trying to get a loaded gun through a check point.
According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today, Bowers will be charged on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon on the second degree.
Those are the same charges levied against wide receiver Plaxico Burress in 2008. The charges carry a minimum sentence of 3½ years in prison.
Reports now suggest that Bowers did not try to get the firearm through the check point, When he got to the check-in counter, he told airline employees he had a gun in his bag.
No word on whether or not his honesty and willingness to acknowledge he had a weapon will help in those charges.
