Imagine that you are your teammates are celebrating your school and its basketball team making it to the big dance for the first time since 1994, and your selection Sunday celebration gets interrupted by a couple of police officers looking for the star player.
No this is not an episode of punked, but events are real. CBSSports.com is reporting that James Madison’s leading scorer Rayshawn Goins was arrested last night, reportedly during the teams celebration for making the NCAA tournament.
The 6’6 Senior forward reportedly was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.
Rockingham Co. Sheriff Bryan Hutchison said Goins’ charges are for obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. Arrest made by HPD.

Confirmed that JMU forward Rayshawn Goins was just recently taken to Rockingham County Jail. No more information just yet.

Sheriff said that Goins has been “cooperative at this point” and expects that he will not be held in jail overnight for the misdemeanors.

The university released this official statement.
“The athletic administration is aware of the situation,” the school said. “We will not be providing any additional comments until we review this matter in the morning.”
James Madison will open up the tournament on Wednesday against LIU-Brooklyn as part of the First Four in Dayton. The Dukes won the CAA tournament by upsetting Delaware and Northeastern last weekend.
Goins, averaged 12.7 points and 7.4 rebounds this season for the Dukes, leading the team in scoring and rebounding. He had 14 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game win over Northeastern.
