The Kansas City Chiefs are not interested in going through the rebuilding stage. They want to win right now. That’s evident by the team trading for Alex Smith, and re-signing Dwayne Bowe.
Alex Smith knows the Chiefs only won two games last season and hold the #1 overall pick in this years draft, but new leader of the Chiefs offense feels the Chiefs can go from worst to first this season according to NFL.com.
“I think that’s the case for every NFL team, and if it’s not the case, it’s a problem. We’re trying to win right now. I think that’s the great thing about the NFL,” Smith said Monday. “You’re out there and there are very few perennials. It’s a battle every single year. You can go first to worst, worst to first. There is so much parity across the league. That’s the mindset here, that’s for sure. If it’s not win now, then that’s a problem.”
The Chiefs on talent alone are now the second best team in the AFC West. Talent alone won’t win you playoff games though. We’ll see if Andy Reid still has the blueprint for success.
