Well college football fans, week 3 is in the books and we got some really entertaining football highlighted by Alabama-Texas A&M. The game actually lived up to the hype with both QBs going HAM all game long. Let’s take a look around the country.
AAC
669: Yards put up by Cincinnati on lowly Northwestern St. 345 passing as a team with 4 TDs by Brendon Kay and 324 rushing as a team. 1: The amount of wins UCF now has over Big Ten teams ever after beating Penn State 34-31 at Penn State. 1: Touchdown thrown by Teddy Bridgewater in a road win against rival Kentucky. It wasn’t that pretty but a road win against an SEC opponent is still good, even if it’s Kentucky. 192: Paul James of Rutgers rushing yards this week, good for the most in the nation this week.
ACC
0: The amount of points Syracuse allowed against someone called Wagner in a 54-0 win. I guess it’s better to beat the cupcake though than to be Wake Forest who lost by 2 against LA-Monroe. 83%: Jameis Winston’s completion percentage against Nevada. It feels like forever since Winston’s coming out party against Pitt but they routed Nevada 62-7. 99: Combined yards rushing in the Virginia Tech-East Carolina game that the Hokies won 15-10. Talk about a pillow fight.
Big 12
1: The first conference win for new Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingbury after beating TCU by 10 at home on Thursday. 4: Touchdowns throw by Blake Bell in his debut as the Oklahoma starting QB. Do we have a QB controversy brewing? 270: Yards of offense by Kansas in a pathetic loss to Rice 14-23. 8: The amount of times in the last 13 games that Texas has allowed an opponents leading rusher to get a career high.
Big 10
4: How many points Michigan beat Akron by at home. I’m sure Wolverine fans had flashbacks to Appalachian State but they held on this time. 15: Games won in a row by Ohio State. Kenny Guitton stepped in for the injured Braxton Miller and led the team to victory with 4 TD passes against Cal. 18: How many points Nebraska was up on UCLA before giving up 38 straight points to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. 504: Yards put on “defensive guru” Bo Pelini’s team.
Pac 12
12.9: Yards per carry Arizona State gave up to Melvin Gordon. However thanks to a bizarre call, ASU still won 32-30. 99: Combined points in the Oregon St- Utah OT thriller. The two teams combined for 1030 total yards in a game that would make a defensive coach cry. 456: Passing yards for Marcus Mariota in the win against Tennessee 59-14. We could have ourselves a new Heisman favorite. 36: The number of slain UCLA freshman Nick Pasquale. The team wore a patch on the jerseys with his number to honor him in their victory against Nebraska.
SEC
4: The number of losses Texas A&M has in the 4 times College Gameday has visited them. 798: Combined passing yards for A.J. McCarron and Johnny Manziel. 652: Total yards for Johnny Manziel who may have actually helped his Heisman chances even in a loss. 10: SEC games in a row Auburn had lost until its 24-20 victory at home against Mississippi State. Gus Malzahn is bringing energy back to the program and Miss St. is in a tailspin. 164: Rushing yards for Ole Miss’ Jeff Scott against Texas that propelled them to a revenge win over the Longhorns.
