And to think, the drama isn’t even close to finished with yet.
In a day which gave you a gem of an A-Rod rant against MLB, he’s followed it up with an actual interview in which he goes in on all things Selig and the arbitration process.
A-Rod took his frustrations to the airwaves of WFAN, to Mike Francesa’s show where he proceeded to tear MLB to shreds. In an interview which gave the full scope of what A-Rod’s never-ending ordeal, here were some of the highlights:
- A-Rod said that he’s done with the arbitration process unless commissioner Bud Selig shows up. He’s extra angry that he missed his 9-year-old daughter’s birthday Monday to be in the courtroom while Selig has refused to show up.
- Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch is “making a mockery of baseball” and working on a book deal, per A-Rod
- Rodriguez calls Bud Selig “the man from Milwaukee,” and claims he offered multiple times to meet with the Commissioner. (For coffee or brunch at Selig’s house!) “He doesn’t have the courage to come see me and tell me, ‘This is why I’m going to destroy your career”
- On the arbitration process: “I’m done. I don’t have a chance.”
- A-Rod also noted that “if it wasn’t for my attorneys holding me back,” he would have spoken out against MLB’s treatment of him long ago.
- On the flip-side, A-Rod point blank said he is angry with the Yankees, but that his job is to play third base for the Yankees and he takes his job seriously.
- Regarding walking out on the proceedings, A-Rod said he has no regrets and he’d do it again under the same circumstances.
Then there was this gem: “He [Selig] hates my guts, there’s no doubt about it. I don’t think they like big salaries. One hundred percent it’s personal. I think it’s about his legacy and it’s about my legacy. He’s trying to destroy me and — by the way — he’s retiring in 2014 and to put me on his big mantle on the way out, that’s a helluva trophy.”
It’s also noteworthy to point out that for perhaps the first time A-Rod has come out to say he is 100% innocent.
A-Rod has been pushed to his breaking point and isn’t holding back any longer, since he essentially views himself as a dead man walking, he’s on a mission to take everyone down by exposing the behind the scenes matters.
Whether you’re pro or anti A-rod, you have to agree that the witch hunt MLB has launched to pin this massive suspension on him went completely too far. From throwing money at a drug dealer in Tony Bosch, to having ‘investigators’ break into cars to steal documentation, the whole thing sounds like a mob movie.
