The People’s Champion gloves are going up for auction, allowing the public to bid for a “great piece of history.”
Muhammad Ali’s gloves that were worn against Sonny Liston on Feb. 25, 1964 will go to the highest bidder. A bid has already gone in for $170,000 and Chris Ivy, director of sports auctions at Heritage, says Ali’s gloves are expected to go up to at least $500,000.
The highest price paid for a pair of Ali gloves was $1.1 million. The gloves were worn by Ali in the 1965 title fight against Floyd Patterson.
