Not sure whether or not Kobe Bryant was happy for Tim Duncan winning his 5th NBA Championship, but he was crystal clear when asked how he’d feel if Duncan won his 6th title before Kobe got around to doing it.
“If you ask me if I’m okay with Tim [winning his sixth championship], I’m not,” Bryant told ESPN while on location for the World Cup in Brazil. “I’m not okay with that.”
There’s a chance Kobe was just kidding, but considering his über competitive nature, and the fact that a 6th ring would put him in the rarified air of Michael Jordan’s championship count, there’s an even better chance he wasn’t. If you don’t think chasing MJ’s legacy is important to Kobe Bryant, then chances are you don’t follow the Lakers, or the NBA for that matter.
