Rashad McCants has been making news lately with huge allegations against the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mccants is claiming that the school provided him a horrible education and used him for his skills and celebrity. McCants has went further to say that not only did the school encourage this behavior but also that of the Head Coach Roy Williams. Williams and other UNC officials naturally denied the allegations and are reported to be shocked that McCants are stating such facts. Since his infamous interview with ESPN, McCants has said that the university is sending him a $10 million check for exploitation.
“The question is what are we talking about, honestly. I mean I have a check being written to me from the University of North Carolina for over $10 million due to the exploitation of me as a player and the lack of education that I received. The NCAA has a check for me for over $300 million to help me facilitate these sports education programs across the country. These are things that’s in the works.”
Apparently McCants is in a fantasy world because UNC has no idea what $10 million they are supposed to be sending him.
“We have no idea what Rashad McCants is referring to with regard to monetary compensation,” a UNC athletic spokesperson told ABC11 on Tuesday. “We again encourage him to speak directly to Kenneth Wainstein regarding his academic experience at UNC.”
Since McCants allegations, the school has been notified by the NCAA that they will reopen their 2011 investigation of academic irregularities. UNC in the last few years has seen their share of bad press from players getting perks, drug allegations on players, unethical conduct and allegations of plagiarism. This doesn’t seem too far from over, UNC should buckle up for the long haul cause the NCAA doesn’t seem to be letting up.
