We are two weeks into the college football season, but it is never too early to start talking playoffs. The battle for the top four spots puts an interesting twist to the college football postseason, should be get very interesting going down the home stretch.
Who’s in?
- Florida State
The defending champs have done nothing to hurt their chances of making the final four thus far. They are still very talented, they still have Jameis Winston, and they still have a pretty soft schedule in the ACC.
- Oregon
Is this the year the Ducks get over the hump? They looked really good this weekend against a tough Michigan State team and they got weapons all over the field that will give any defense issues.
- Alabama
You can never count out Nick Saban’s boys from Tuscaloosa. They worried me a bit in the season opener and need to settle on a quarterback going forward. I think they will struggle with some of the up tempo spread offenses on the schedule, but for now they are in.
- Auburn
Another high powered offense makes the cut. Auburn added more weapons in the offseason to an already potent offense and have found a very capable backup quarterback in Jeremy Johnson in the process. If their defense can continue to be opportunistic and avoid shootouts, they will be in every game they play.
Who’s Out?
- Georgia
Todd Gurley is amazing and he may end up in New York at the end of season, but for now I got him and the Bulldogs on the outside looking in until I see more from them.
- Oklahoma
Trevor Knight had a heck of performance against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, but I’m not sure if is the real deal just yet. Big Game Bob usually finds away to lose a game he shouldn’t during the season.
- Texas A&M
Kenny Hill has the Aggie offense clicking on all cylinders and they will be able to score a ton a points, that’s the good news. The bad news is their defense will give up their fair share as they play teams that are capable of scoring just like them. South Carolina was very overrated to me, I have to see them hit some adversity before I am ready to buy in.
