New York Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani’s return to the court from a hamstring injury will be delayed a bit, but Coach Derek Fisher hopes to have him out there soon.
Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani will likely be out for at least another week as he deals with a right hamstring injury.
Knicks coach Derek Fisher said Bargnani is “progressing” and he hopes to have him back “soon” but acknowledged that the Knicks’ schedule will probably preclude Bargnani from returning before the ninth game of the season.
“I don’t think it’s fair to put a player out there who hasn’t really had an opportunity to practice and see how his body responds to the physical demands of playing the game,” Fisher said Sunday before tipoff of the Knicks-Hornets game. “So there are really no practices this week and maybe next week … it might be a better week to start to dial in when he might be back.”
Bargnani played in the Knicks’ first preseason game but hasn’t suited up since.
The earliest Bargnani can return is Nov. 12 against Orlando because he won’t be able to participate in practice prior to that game.
