It was in last season’s playoffs where I began to notice that Deron Williams was in the midst of a sort of resurgence.
Let’s face facts, prior to that stage the Brooklyn Nets point guard had plummeted down the list of the league’s best point guards, mostly because of injuries and it seemed like the Williams who was neck and neck with Chris Paul for the “best in the league” status was lost to us forever.
Well Williams is in the process of making his way back to that position, starting this season averaging 19.8 points and seven assists a game and he says that he’s starting to feel somewhat unguardable.
“I’m getting that confidence back where I step on the court and I feel like people can’t guard me,” Williams said following the win. “I had some explosive moves where I haven’t been able to do that in a long time.”
Williams is going to have to put in some serious work to be considered in the top echelon again because while he plummeted many points guards were on the rise and it’s crowded at the top.
