I’ve tried to tell this to people for years.
Barry Sanders didn’t hand the ball to the ref because he thought there was something wrong with celebrating, he did it because he just wasn’t the type of guy to break out a New Edition dance routine. It was never about being more or less classy than any other player. Consider this myth busted.
There is no wrong or right way to celebrate a TD. As long as you aren’t taunting your opponent (and some say you should be able to do that) you should be allow to express yourself as much as possible. Here is what Barry had to say to TMZ.
