UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will break his silence about his cocaine use in an exclusive interview with FOX Sports 1 this Monday.
On December 4, 2014, Jones was tested as part of the drug screening by the Nevada State Athletic Commission ahead of his scheduled bout against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182.
When the test results came back on December 23, Jones’ sample was positive for metabolites found in cocaine.
Jones couldn’t be punished for the infraction because cocaine is not a drug that’s considered illegal when an athlete is out of competition, which he was when the test was administered a month out from his fight.
Jones was allowed to compete and he went on to beat Cormier by unanimous decision in the first UFC card of the New Year.
He subsequently entered rehab before leaving a day later. Jones was fined $25K for the positive test as well.
