The story of the domestic violence allegation against Saints Junior Galette continues to get stranger by the minute. Galette’s attorney is now asserting that according to his client and several witnesses, Galette’s accuser was actually attacked by a dog.
A lawyer for Saints sack leader Junior Galette said a woman accusing the player of battery had her earring ripped out and was scratched by a dog that was reacting to her yelling.
In a written statement issued Tuesday, attorney Ralph Whalen said four witnesses, including Galette’s girlfriend, and a video recording all corroborate the player’s version of events.
“We are confident an investigation and a full hearing of the facts will reveal that Junior Galette behaved appropriately given the circumstances and in no way committed domestic violence or battery,” Whalen’s statement said.
Galette’s first court date is scheduled for February 26th. Hopefully, some more details will surface to shed some light on this matter. Meanwhile, the Saints organization claim to be taking the allegations very seriously. Given the NFL’s tarnished image due to domestic violence cases in 2014, the Saints have to tread very lightly with this one.
