When the Dallas Cowboys visit the high-flying Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Troy Aikman might be on the only person in American who believes the advantage under center goes to Dallas.
The Hall of Fame passer told USA TODAY on Saturday that he would choose Tony Romo over Aaron Rodgers or any remaining quarterback to make one big play in the postseason.
“I’ll tell you, right now, from what I’ve seen this year — just talking about this year — I’d probably take Romo,” Aikman said. “I’ve seen him make too many plays when he’s had to make them this year and he’s made them.”
Aikman — who will call Sunday’s game for FOX — highlighted Romo’s maturity.
“I think he’s learned that there’s a lot to the position, and that every possession doesn’t require you having to make a big play or something spectacular,” Aikman said. “He’s really done a nice job of that all season long. He hasn’t forced the ball down the field for big plays. He’s been willing to take what has been there.”
