John Oliver Talks NCAA Not Paying Athletes on Last Week Tonight (Video)

The first round of March Madness starts on Tuesday, so Last Week Tonight with John Oliver decided to address the elephant in the room with college athletics that no one really wants to talk about. TV revenue for March Madness is estimated at $1 billion, yet players continue to not get paid. College programs profit tremendously, while college athletes’ scholarships aren’t even guaranteed.

At one point, Oliver takes a shot at Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney for insisting that he would be done with college athletics if the athletes started to get paid, while he makes over $3 million annually. Oliver created a the hashtag #SoybeanWind for Swinney, which end up going on viral on Twitter. Take a look at the full video.
