Larry Brown Says SMU Would Be Ranked Top 3 With Mudiay

Larry Brown says SMU would be top 3 with Mudiay

The 74-year old Larry Brown is still relevant these days. His Mustangs are currently ranked 22nd in the country, with a (23-6) record.

What most people forget is that SMU was suppose to have Emmanuel Mudiay. The star point guard was rated number one at his position out of high school.

Mudiay originally committed to SMU, but he quickly changed his mind before the season started.

“I was excited about going to SMU and playing college basketball for coach Larry Brown and his staff and preparing for the NBA, but I was tired of seeing my mom struggle,” Mudiay said. “After sitting down with my coach, coach Brown, and my family, we decided that the best way for me to provide for my mom is to forgo college and pursue professional basketball opportunities. I am grateful for coach Brown’s guidance and support. I am grateful for Prime Prep and Coach Forsett for making me into the player that I am today. This is in no shape or form because of the NCAA or any eligibility issues.”

If Mudiay were to be at SMU right now, Brown feels like his team would’ve been right there among the elite.

Most mock drafts have Mudiay going in the top 3 of this year’s NBA draft. Check out his China highlights:
