The Mayweather Grand Arrivals at the MGM Grand was more of a block party than it was an organized fan event.
Legendary M.C. Doug E. Fresh was the Master of Ceremonies for the event and comedian Ricky Smiley provided some timely jokes for a crowd of over a thousand fans. It was’t the largest turnout that a Mayweather-Pacquiao event will see this week but it was something for the local Vegas boxing fans and the early arriving tourists to enjoy.
Over 98% of them will not be in attendance on Saturday night but they were given an opportunity to be a part of history. They sat in the same seats people are paying $10k+ for on Saturday night and saw the champ take the stage. That small participation is enough to give them a life long memory.
Mayweather addressed how he plans to handle the many distractions that’ll come his way this week:
“I don’t focus on all the festivities going on. I just focus on being the best that I can be and doing what I’m supposed to do in the gym.”
He also made it a point to thank his fans for showing up and supporting him:
“Today I was thinking about how thankful I am for my fans. I’m so thankful for my fans. Every day when I’m training at the gym, there’s 200 or 300 fans waiting out there for me.”
Many of those same fans were the ones in attendance today.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words so allow the photos taken by @Rayp_photos to take you through today’s Grand Arrival.
