This shouldn’t be a difficult task for Doc Rivers seeing that he is the head coach, has a huge say in team personnel decisions and is the father of Austin Rivers. Doc has acknowledged that he would like his son Austin back next season as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers.
“He’s young and he clearly helped us, I think we all have to agree with that. I think he loved it here. I even think he liked the coach at times”
Coach Rivers wasn’t quick to pull the trigger on acquiring his son when is was suggested to him by GM Dave Wohl.
“It was a gamble for me personally. It was just a tough one for me. I was on the other side not wanting to do it, and I’m glad I listed to the people for a change.”
Austin did show some signs of growth when he was forced to fill in for injured guard Chris Paul. Austin did pretty good in his action and could be viewed as a valuable backup point guard for several teams but I’d like to think his dad will have some say in that.
