With the Hawks season on the line, the longest tenured Hawk player made a huge play to help the Hawks win. Al Horford made a game winning put back shot with 1 second remaining, after Dennis Schroder missed a shot that was blocked by John Wall.

“A heck of a play by Al,” Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said.

The Hawks won Game 5, 82-81 and now lead the series for the 1st time at 3-2. John Wall started after missing the last 3 games dues to a fractured wrist. Wall had 15 points and 7 assists. Bradley Beal scored 23 points to lead the Wizards.

Paul Pierce shot a 3 point shot to give the Wizards the lead with 8 seconds remaining and went to the Hawks fans to call “Series”, however it wasn’t enough for them to win the game tonight.

The game itself was a back and forth turnover battle with the Hawks giving it away 23 times and the Wizards giving it up 19 times. The Hawks did however with the battle of the boards, 50-46.

Al Horford led the Hawks with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jeff Teague scored 14 points and had 5 assists but had 7 turnovers. Teague even took himself out the game in the 4th quarter to give Dennis Schroder a chance to make plays. When Coach Budenholzer wanted Teague to go back in, he declined because he didn’t feel like it was best for the team.
