Things are not looking good for Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. When Melo re-signed with the Knicks for $120 million after the 2013-2014 season, the Knicks felt they were ready to take the next step and compete for a title but things didn’t go as planned. The Knicks haven’t made it out the 1st round of playoffs, have traded away most of their players and managed to win only 17 games last season.
Kenyon Martin, who was a teammate of Anthony with the Knicks and the Nuggets, hates to see his friend in this losing situation.
“I feel bad for him,” Martin told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. He cares and wants to win and to be put in a situation like that with that kind of talent, he don’t deserve to be a part of a rebuilding process by any stretch of the imagination.”
“We spent like eight years of our careers together. He wants to win. One of the most competitive people I have been around. The situation hasn’t been ideal, but I hope they get it together.”
I’ve been saying this for years, Carmelo is a great player who scores at an elite level but I’m not sure he will ever win a title. He is wasting valuable years of his career with this depleted roster and won’t win a title until he teams up with another elite player. He needs help and the Knicks don’t have it. They are in the middle of a 3-4 year rebuilding phase and Melo might want to get out-of-town before it’s too late.
