A 24-year-old high school teacher from North Carolina has been charged with having a month-long affair with a male student at her school.
Kimberly Lynne Umphlett, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, turned herself in to police after a Grand Jury indicted her Monday on a charge of felony sex offense with a student.
Authorities launched an investigation into Umphlett’s conduct after receiving a report in May that accused the Currituck County High School employee of being romantically involved with the teenage boy.
‘The school was kind of buzzing, you could tell a lot of people would pull people aside and be like oh, did you hear?,’ another junior at the high school told 13News Now.
Kimberly has resigned from her position.
